Adopt Sharukh

Rescued in the nick of time

Sharukh and his brother Shevar were removed from the Bloemfontein Zoo just days before a COVID lockdown was announced in South Africa. After the discovery that five animals in the zoo had died of starvation, an emergency intervention was immediately set in motion – there was no time to waste.

Born in 2012, the two tiger brothers had lived at the zoo since the age of two and knew nothing but their small enclosure until their rescue.

New beginnings

Since their arrival, Sharukh has settled in very well and now enjoys a spacious home where he loves nothing more than cooling down in their pool and relaxing on the platforms, observing the free-roaming animals nearby. Sharukh is very playful and thoroughly enjoys enrichment, often bringing it into the pool with him.
